Alright this is the last post of today, I swear.

"You don't have to be a 'person of influence' to be influential. In fact, the most influential people in my life are probably not even aware of the things they've taught me."
Scott Adams

I would like to write a little about the people that have influenced me to become the person that I am today.

I want to start with my family.  I have the most supportive family that a girl could ask for.  My parents are always there for me 100% of the time.  My mom especially, is a huge part of my life.  Since my parents are divorced, I live with my mom most of the time.  She has been taking care of my sister and I for a long time and I honestly don't know how she does it.  She works as a nurse but then always has time to come take me to practice or pick me up from school once in a while.  I know she makes tons of sacrifices for my sister and I and I couldn't be more grateful.  My mom is such a strong woman that I want to be like her when I grow up.  She has influenced everything that I do and everything that I hope to achieve.  I want to make her proud of me.  I learned from her how to take care of myself, how to be strong-willed, how to persevere, and so much more.  I could probably write a book about all the things that my mom has done for me and my life.

My dad, is also quite amazing.  Although I don't get to see him as often as I would like because of school and such, I know he is always there for me.  He really doesn't care what I do with my life as long as I'm happy and able to support myself.  I know I'm lucky because of that because I have many friends whose parents want them to be a certain thing when they grow up.  My dad's unwavering support lets me know that I can make mistakes and no one in my family will judge me.

Another person who has greatly influenced my life is Ansel Adams, the photographer.  I have never met Ansel because he died before I was born, but his pictures are what sparked my interest in photography.  I happened to be assigned to him in a fourth grade project, but he ended up changing my life.  I am so thankful to have been able to be opened up to the world of photography through the eyes of someone who really understood how unique the world can be.

I know right now, as a high school student, I can't make a huge impact or influence anyone.  But I do think that I can try.  I know, as much as I hate to admit it, my sister looks up to me.  I know that the things I do or things I say will influence her decisions.  I hope that I can be a positive influence to her and be someone that she wants to try to be like.  I also tutor younger students after school.  I hope that I am able to help them enjoy learning and reading and see how beneficial it can be.  I hope that I can be a daughter who inspires her parents and I hope I can be a friend that encourages her peers.

I hope that I am able to apply what I've learned to my life, for the rest of my life. I am beyond appreciative for the wonderful people that have been able to change my life in such positive ways.  Thankyouthankyouthankyou.

The image below is a photo of a Women's Quad in the 2012 Olympics

I don't know if I want to go as far as the Olympics one day, but it's always out there if I work hard enough.
I didn't take this picture but I think I will share some images that I did take, in the near future.

Hi again.

After reading my previous post, I realized how blunt I sounded.  It's hard to mix formal and informal writing together without sounded rude in some way.  I'm still getting use to this blogging thing.  So I apologize for my weird tone of writing as of now, hopefully I can ease it up soon.  :)

Sky
Hi.  My name is Sky (obviously because that is part of the name of this blog).

I live in Los Angeles, California.  I am a sophomore at Mira Costa High School.  I have a sister named Star (yes, Star), a mom named Samantha, a dad named Paul, and a dog named Athena.

I very much enjoy photography and I hope to do something with it in the future.  But when asked specifically what I want to do when I grow up, I tend to freeze up and panic.  I realize that this is probably a common reaction from most teenagers, but it doesn't make any of it less scary.

I do, actually, enjoy high school sometimes.  I feel like I am learning a lot in my classes because of all the great teachers I have.  My favorite class is Accelerated English with Mr. Brown (depending on who is reading this, you may or may not know him).  He makes learning so much fun and so interesting.

I also (sometimes) like high school because of  all the wonderful people I have met.  I have grown close to so many lovely human beings these past two years and I know I will meet and grow close to many more.

I love reading.  Since I have started high school, free reading is a blessing.  But when I do get to read, I LOVE it.  I love getting lost in a book for hours.  I like reading fiction, fantasy, science-fiction, mystery... pretty much any book where I can lose myself in someone else's story and forget about reality.  (Not that reality is bad, just that sometimes I need an escape).

I row.  People always get confused when I tell them that.  I row, as in crew.  Not as in canoeing, or kayaking, or outrigger canoeing, or paddle-boarding.  This sport does actually consume 95.7% of my time.  I don't get to sleep in on the weekends because I have early morning practices.  I am SO happy I get to do independent PE this year because if I had to row AND waste my time with regular PE, I would not be a happy person.  At all.

SO BACK TO THIS BLOG...

I'm making this blog for academic purposes.  However, I do think that I might be posting random things once in a while.  I may decide to make posts for my photography.  I may decide to make posts for when I travel.  I may decide to make posts for random thoughts.  I have no idea but, whoever is reading this, be prepared for random rants, run-off ideas, sometimes formal, sometimes informal writing, etc...

Alright.  I think I am done with my first post.  Have a great day! (Or night or evening or whatever).

P.S. I guess I am going to be signing my name at the bottom of my posts (?) ...
